2008 Season

The next season of excavations is tentatively scheduled for May 19 to June 6, 2008.

Rhodes faculty, staff, alumni and family members are always welcome to participate in the excavation and lab activities on a day-to-day basis. Please contact Ryan Byrne for details.

Rhodes students may attend the Field School by enrolling in the Maymester course ARCE 450, “Archaeological Fieldwork,” which carries four F-11 credits for three full weeks of on-site work and study. Students stay at the plantation, which features dormitories, catered meals, some recreational facilities, historical buildings of interest, and lots of open space for outdoor fun and games. ARCE 450 counts toward the Archaeology minor at Rhodes. Students minoring in Archaeology who take this course, moreover, will have their “Archaeological Methods” course requirement waved.

Students who wish to participate on a limited basis without credit may receive special dispensation on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Dr. Byrne to discuss arrangements.
